Weigh In - Two Month Check Up

Our little hippy child, Cadence, has been sporting the greener choice in diapers, a combination of cloth & gDiapers, for awhile now. So we thought it was about time that she & the fuel efficient Corolla finally meet. So instead of loading her into Kyt, our Nissan Xterra, for today's doctor appointment we put her in the backseat of the Corolla. The Corolla was excited to finally hang out with the newest Scheunemann.

At the visit Cadence came in at 10lbs 1 oz & 22 1/2 inches long. She also got her first round of shots. Needless to say Cadence wasn't her happy self for the rest of the day. The poor girl has a bruise on her entire upper thigh. Sad. Her & Daddy are currently sleeping on the couch.

Super cute!

I checked out the gDiapers website. I really like that idea! I have been thinking about going with cloth diapers if/when Ray and I have kids. gDiapers look like a neat way to minimize the "ick" factor :)

How does the "combination of cloth and gDiapers" work????

Bethany - thanks! Cadence can't wait to meet you at the end of the month!

Becky - our combination of cloth & gDiapers goes a little something like this.

gDiaper Inventory
3 small 'little g' pants
5 removable liners
2 swisher sticks
5 cases (40 ea.) flushables

Cloth Inventory
6 small Prorap outers
36 Indian Prefold Diapers - Unbleached - Infant size
3 snappies
1 diaper pail - from target
Deodorizing Disks for inside the diaper pail
And baking soda to use during the rinse cycle

Cadence couldn't use the gDiapers right away since she was too small - the baby has to be 8 lbs. So we used the cloth first. After we got used to all three options (we used disposable until her umbilical cord fell off & now when we are away from home) We have evaluated our options & have decided to move forward with the cloth diapers - only because of cost. I do like the gDiapers the best; however, you would need 6-10 'little g' pants to make it through just one day. Cadence has got hers dirty way more often than they made it sound like on the website. And as for the ick factor - disposable are the least icky. Jarrod just said, "Ick just comes with all of them"

I hope that makes sense. If you have any other questions just let me know. It has been fun using Cadence as a little diaper tester.

WOW-I agree. Cadence is a mini-Jessie! I'd be interested to see your baby pics.

Thanks for the info! It's good to know that the gDiapers get dirty. I watched the videos on their website and they definitely made it sound like the outer "shell" wouldn't get dirty. I did notice that they were pretty expensive, too. Cloth sounds like the best way to go :)
